About the job

At Cargosnap, you’ll take ownership of developing and maintaining scalable applications using the Laravel framework. By embracing the Laravel ecosystem, we've streamlined operations, reducing the need for a large in-house DevOps team. We bring in external expertise when needed, so having some familiarity with DevOps practices is a plus. While we may consider adding such a role in the future, it could be on a part-time basis or in collaboration with an external agency. Your contributions will be key in helping us scale and optimize our services to meet growing demand.

Key responsibilities include:

• Laravel Expertise: Utilize deep knowledge of Laravel, including Eloquent ORM, Middleware, Service Providers, and Queues.

• High-Availability Applications: Design and maintain high-traffic, large-scale web applications with a focus on uptime.

• Queues and Workers: Manage background job processing using Laravel’s queue system (Redis, SQS) to optimize performance.

• Experience with Async processes through message brokers: (Rabbit MQ, Kafka)

• Performance Optimization: Optimize databases, implement caching strategies, and use profiling tools to enhance performance.

• Data-Driven Decision Making: Use monitoring tools (New Relic, Datadog, Sentry) to identify inefficiencies and propose improvements.

About you

We’re looking for someone with extensive experience in Laravel and a background in building scalable, high-availability applications. You should have a proactive mindset, focusing on optimizing performance and collaborating across teams.

Key qualifications:

• Experience: 5-8 years of experience in web development, with a focus on Laravel and SaaS environments.

• Laravel Mastery: Deep knowledge of Laravel, including new versions and features, and experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).

• Performance-Oriented: Proven track record of optimizing high-traffic applications for performance and availability.

• Problem Solver: Skilled at diagnosing complex infrastructure challenges and proposing innovative solutions.

• Collaborative: Able to work closely with frontend (Vue), and app development teams (React Native).

• Proactive: Always looking for ways to improve system scalability, reliability, and performance.

• Security-Focused: Experience implementing security measures (CSRF, XSS, SQL Injection) and maintaining secure systems.

• Excellent Communicator: Capable of explaining technical decisions and optimizations to both technical and non-technical teams.

• A good eye for Developer quality of life: Knowing when and how to invest time and resources in the process rather than the codebase itself.

Desired Experience (Nice to Have):

• DevOps Knowledge: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

• Monitoring & Alerting: Familiarity with tools like New Relic, Datadog, Sentry or Laravel-specific tools (Telescope).

• High-Scale Projects: Experience working on high-traffic applications in industries like e-commerce or SaaS.
